Resident Evil Requiem hits 6 million sales in record time for the series

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem has exceeded 6 million units sold across all platforms, marking it as the fastest-selling entry in the Resident Evil series' history. Building on its initial milestone of over 5 million units in the first week, the game achieved this shortly after its late February release, before completing a full month on the market.

Capcom released sales figures for Resident Evil Requiem on March 16 via a press release signed by Haruhiro Tsujimoto, President and COO. The statement confirms over 6 million units sold, including digital and physical copies, describing it as 'the fastest that a title in the series has reached this milestone.' For context, Resident Evil 7 has sold around 16.4 million units since 2017, while Resident Evil Village has reached 13.5 million since 2021. Remakes have also performed strongly: Resident Evil 2 at 16.8 million, Resident Evil 3 at 10.9 million, and Resident Evil 4 at 12.2 million units to date. Requiem's rapid sales underscore the franchise's growing popularity amid a busy March release schedule, where it has climbed to second in Metacritic's user score ranking. Capcom noted that additional game content and ongoing support are planned. The announcement coincides with preparations for the series' 30th anniversary on March 22, including a collaboration with Universal Studios Japan featuring Resident Evil Requiem in 2026, and orchestral concerts in Japan, the US, and Europe. Original Resident Evil 2 director Hideki Kamiya commented that he has had trouble sleeping due to the game's scariness.
