Commission president Marcela Hernando said the report vote would take place Monday because of excused guests. Mario Marcel warned about the risks of approving the Constitutional Accusation.
This Wednesday the review commission for the Constitutional Accusation against former finance minister Nicolás Grau received two guests. Fourteen guests excused themselves and only seven confirmed attendance, leading to the suspension of the session scheduled for Friday.
Commission president Deputy Marcela Hernando of the Radical Party stated that “we are going to finish next Monday” and that “we would be voting on Monday if everything proceeds as we have planned”. She added that Wednesday’s meeting was productive and allowed for an objective judgment.
Former minister Mario Marcel also testified in the session, supporting Grau and saying that an accusation over projection differences “seems extraordinarily risky to me”. Marcel explained that finance ministers are already under pressure and approving the indictment could lead to less information being provided in the future.
In addition, three deputies from the Liberal Party sent a letter to their leadership requesting freedom of action to vote on the indictment, arguing that it is a matter of maximum institutional relevance.
