Marvel Studios announced at Comic-Con that Ryan Gosling will star in a Ghost Rider movie scheduled for 2028. The reveal came as the studio revealed plans to reduce its output and prioritize quality.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said the studio is focusing on quality after expanding too quickly into streaming. He noted that when quantity is high, resources get spread thin, and the Avengers films remain a top priority.
The 2028 slate includes Black Panther 3, which will introduce David Jonnson as T’Challa II, also known as Toussaint. Ghost Rider will be directed by Shawn Levy, who previously collaborated with Gosling on the upcoming Star Wars movie Starfighter.
Feige credited Gosling directly for advancing the project. He said it was Gosling who developed the pitch that convinced Levy and the studio to move forward with the idea.
Between now and 2028, Marvel will release only Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. VisionQuest is set to arrive on Disney+ in October, bringing the total to four new entries over two years.
