The second Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft ordered by Indonesia's Ministry of Defense for the TNI AU has arrived after a long detour route. The plane, registration A-4002, landed at Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma, East Jakarta, on Friday afternoon (March 28, 2026) WIB.
Its route started from Sevilla, Spain, to St John, Canada, followed by a transit in Japan. It then stopped at Lanud Johannes Abraham Dimara in Merauke and Lanud Anang Bursa in Tarakan before reaching its final destination in Jakarta. The path avoided the war in the Gulf region.
This differs from the first aircraft, A-4001, which transited in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Lanud Soewondo in Medan. Both A400M planes will join the fleet of Skadron Udara 31, Lanud Wing Udara 1 at Lanud Halim Perdanakusuma.
Earlier, Brigjen Rico Ricardo Sirait, Karo Infohan of Setjen Kemenhan, stated on March 25, 2026, "The second Airbus A400 will arrive at the end of March." He told Republika in Jakarta.
