Sentry Insurance takes over sponsorship of Torrey Pines PGA Tour event

The PGA Tour announced that Sentry Insurance will become the new title sponsor of its long-running event at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego. The tournament will be renamed The Sentry starting next season. It moves from its previous home in Hawaii after the event there was canceled.

The announcement came on Monday. Sentry Insurance will assume sponsorship duties for the event, which has been held annually at Torrey Pines since 1968. The tournament was known as the Farmers Insurance Open from 2010 through 2026, with Justin Rose winning the final edition under that name.

The 2026 CJ Cup Byron Nelson is scheduled to begin Thursday at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth are among the top players in the field. The event runs through Sunday with a $10.3 million purse.

The PGA Tour confirmed it will end two longstanding Hawaii tournaments for the 2027 season, eliminating its traditional season-opening swing in the state. The Sentry at Kapalua and the Sony Open in Hawaii will no longer be PGA Tour events. The move forms part of a broader schedule restructuring.
