Sheinbaum launches Universal Health Credential registration for seniors starting April 13

As part of the Universal Health Credential rollout announced in January, President Claudia Sheinbaum detailed the initial registration phase beginning April 13 for those aged 85 and older. Around 3,000 modules will operate in state capitals via IMSS-Bienestar, with locations listed on the Secretariat of Welfare's website, advancing toward universal health access by 2027.

During her April 7 morning conference, President Claudia Sheinbaum outlined the first phase of registration for the Universal Health Credential, building on the January plan for nationwide rollout starting in March.

This phase targets people aged 85 and older from April 13 to April 30, proceeding alphabetically by the first letter of the last name. Modules will operate Monday to Saturday, 9:00 to 17:00, in capitals including Mexico City's 16 boroughs, Toluca, and Chilpancingo. Full locations are available at gob.mx/bienestar by state and municipality.

Welfare Secretary Ariadna Montiel Reyes provided details, while Undersecretary Eduardo Clark explained the credential integrates personal data and medical history, gradually replacing IMSS, ISSSTE, and IMSS-Bienestar cards. By January 2027, it enables shared services across institutions and serves as official ID.

Required documents: official photo ID, birth certificate, certified CURP, recent proof of address, and contact phone. Family or caregivers may assist. Clark highlighted eight universal treatments covered, including emergency care, cancer treatment, and vaccinations.
