On Tuesday, May 5, 2026, Sorong residents in Southwest Papua held a discussion with Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI) to address community needs and foster development collaboration. Adat leader Alfons Kambu from Wanusau met PSI Chairman Kaesang Pangarep in Maybrat, Sorong, stressing the importance of unity.
"Supaya kita bersatu membesarkan visi-misi yang ada, rencana ini akan menjadi lebih besar," said Alfons Kambu. He hoped PSI would actively promote equitable development in Southwest Papua. Kaesang accepted the input and promised to follow up.
"Kami terima semua masukan ini. Nanti akan saya coba sampaikan kepada Mas Wapres," Kaesang stated. At the same event, he attended the Regional Coordination Meeting (Rakorwil) and the inauguration of DPW PSI Southwest Papua board in Sorong.
Kaesang urged PSI cadres to complete organizational structures down to the grassroots level in preparation for the 2029 elections. "Penyelesaian struktur hingga ke tingkat bawah menjadi salah satu faktor penting dalam memperkuat kesiapan partai menghadapi pemilu," he said. He also reminded them to prepare for next year's party verification to avoid repeating 2024 election issues.
