En enstemmig byret i Vänersborg frifandt tirsdag den norske mand Steinar Wangen for fire anklagepunkter om tilskyndelse til selvmord. Retten fandt ikke, at han havde påvirket ofrene eller handlet hensynsløst.

Steinar Wangen blev i maj tiltalt for at have sendt vejledninger og medicin til personer, der havde kontaktet ham via en Facebook-side om aktiv dødshjælp. Sagerne involverede personer i Norrköping, Nyköping, Västerås og Trollhättan/Stockholm.

Byretten bemærkede, at ofrene selv havde opsøgt manden og anmodet om materialet. Ifølge retten var der intet, der tydede på, at han havde påvirket deres vilje til at tage deres eget liv.

Anklager Carina Gustafsson overvejer at appellere dommen. Wangen er tidligere blevet dømt i Norge for medvirken til selvmord i Strömstad i 2023.
