Steven Spielberg returned to alien territory with Disclosure Day, which hit theaters on June 12. The film stars Emily Blunt as a Kansas City meteorologist and Josh O'Connor as a whistleblower pushing for full disclosure.
The sci-fi thriller features an ensemble including Colin Firth as the head of the Wardex Corporation, Colman Domingo as a former insider exposing a cover-up, Eve Hewson as O'Connor's girlfriend, and Wyatt Russell as Blunt's partner.
O'Connor's character declares in the trailer, “full disclosure, to the whole world, all at once,” adding, “People have a right to know the truth.” The movie has drawn strong reactions from critics and audiences since its release.
Spielberg also has a long history with the genre. His directorial debut Firelight premiered when he was 17, while Close Encounters of the Third Kind arrived in 1977 and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial in 1982. War of the Worlds followed in 2005.
