STJ denies habeas corpus to influencer Deolane Bezerra

The Superior Court of Justice denied on Tuesday the habeas corpus request of influencer Deolane Bezerra, who has been held since May 21 on suspicion of money laundering linked to the PCC.

Ministers of the 5th Panel of the STJ decided unanimously to maintain the preventive detention. They understood that the case must still be analyzed by lower courts before a decision at the superior court. Deolane’s sister, lawyer Daniele Bezerra, stated on social media that there was no merit analysis. “Simply put, the STJ understood that it is not the time to analyze the case and that it is necessary to respect the lower courts,” she declared. Deolane is detained at the Penitenciária Feminina de Tupi Paulista. The defense claims she is suffering panic attacks and is not eating properly due to prison conditions.
