Modders from Team Clown have launched the first demo of Half-Life: Lemmings, a modification for Half-Life Source that allows players to rescue scientists and guards. The demo covers roughly half the game, from the 'Unforeseen Consequences' chapter to 'Apprehension,' with 45 NPCs available to save. NPCs gain new abilities, including combat support and improved movement.
Team Clown announced the release of Half-Life: Lemmings, a mod for Valve's Half-Life Source that enables Gordon Freeman to lead scientists and security guards to safety amid the Black Mesa incident. Described as 'Half-Life: But You Can Rescue Every Scientist,' the demo lets players gather up to 45 NPCs, who follow through modified levels and even assist in fights by picking up pistols. At the demo's end, it displays a tally of saved and lost NPCs. Team Clown implemented extensive changes, such as new animations for climbing and leaping, and level adjustments to accommodate crowds. For instance, a scientist hiding in a dumpster can now be convinced to join the group, and the tram car in 'On A Rail' has been expanded. These tweaks transform the classic shooter, where NPCs previously met grim fates. The mod revives interest in Half-Life Source, with players herding dozens of armed guards and scientists behind Freeman. Team Clown positions this as an initial version, suggesting more content ahead.
