Tesla offers one year of free Supercharging for new Model 3 purchases

Tesla has launched a promotion granting one year of free Supercharging to buyers of new Model 3 Premium and Performance vehicles in North America. The offer begins at delivery and comes with certain restrictions. It aims to provide added value amid ongoing incentives for electric vehicle adoption.

Tesla announced the perk on its website, specifying that it applies to new Model 3 Premium or Performance purchases in North America. The free Supercharging lasts one year from delivery and cannot be delayed or converted to cash. However, the company noted that the offer is subject to change or termination at any time, and it excludes vehicles used for commercial purposes such as ridesharing, taxis, or deliveries. Owners remain responsible for congestion fees at busy Supercharger sites if their vehicle stays plugged in after reaching 80% charge. Tesla ended its free lifetime Supercharging program in 2018 but has revived limited versions for promotions, including for Model S and X vehicles in 2019. Buyers who traded in gas vehicles for a 2,000-mile Supercharging incentive can use the one-year free period first, redeeming the mileage afterward. Electrek described the benefit as a helpful addition, particularly for those without home charging, potentially offering substantial savings on public fast-charging costs. Most Tesla owners charge at home, where this may not sway decisions.
