Tesla ramps up hiring for Cybercab production team

Tesla is expanding its Cybercab production team at Giga Texas with three new job listings. These roles focus on quality, plastics, and injection molding for the autonomous vehicle. The hires signal preparations for a unique manufacturing process aimed at high-volume output.

Tesla has recently added three job positions related to the Cybercab on its Careers website, indicating a ramp-up in hiring for the vehicle's production at Giga Texas in Austin, Texas. The openings include a Metrology Technician for the Cybercab's Quality team, an Equipment Engineer for the Plastics team, and a Tool & Die Supervisor for the Injection Molding team. All positions are based in Austin, aligning with Giga Texas as the sole facility capable of producing the two-seater autonomous vehicle.

The Cybercab represents a departure from Tesla's traditional vehicle production. It will be the first to use the company's 'Unboxed' process, differing from conventional automotive assembly lines. Elon Musk has described it as Tesla's highest-volume vehicle, targeting an annual production rate of 2 million units. He emphasized the innovative manufacturing approach during an earlier All-Hands meeting, stating: "If you’ve seen the design of the Cybercab line, it doesn’t look like a normal car manufacturing line. It looks like a really high-speed consumer electronics line. In fact, the line will move so fast that actually people can’t even get close to it. I think it’ll be able to produce a car ultimately in less than 5 seconds."

This hiring push suggests Tesla is advancing toward Cybercab production, which promises efficiency through electronics-like speed. The 'Unboxed' method could enable rapid output, positioning the Cybercab as a key part of Tesla's autonomous vehicle strategy.
