The 26th annual BET Awards took place on Sunday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. The event celebrated Black excellence in music, film, sports, and entertainment, with a red carpet showcasing sculptural gowns and bold beauty looks.
Hosted by comedian and actor Druski, the ceremony featured arrivals from nominees and performers including Teyana Taylor, Doechii, Lauryn Hill, Cardi B, and Kehlani. Teyana Taylor won icon of the year, best actress, video director of the year, and the inaugural fashion vanguard award.
Red carpet fashion emphasized colorful sculptural gowns with strong shapes. Teyana Taylor wore a burgundy Stéphane Rolland gown with rubies and a matching headpiece. Doechii appeared in an archival brown DSquared2 crochet gown from 2006 paired with vintage Louis Vuitton heels.
Other notable looks included Lizzo in a semi-transparent Christian Cowan gown, Jodie Turner-Smith in a printed Roberto Cavalli jumpsuit, Queen Latifah in a textured robe coat, and Jaafar Jackson in a silky Valentino shawl jacket. Dramatic eyes with brightly colored eyeshadows appeared on Chlöe Bailey, Lauryn Hill, and Cardi B. Manicures ranged from Coco Jones’ soft chrome nails to Olandria’s gem-encrusted design.
