TNI commander claims Army supported 55 percent of 2026 national rice target

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto stated that the Indonesian Army has supported 55.24 percent of the national rice production target for 2026.

The statement was made during a simultaneous harvest event at Abdulrachman Saleh Air Base in Malang, East Java, on Friday, 17 July 2026.

Agus explained that from January to June 2026 the Army harvested rice across 6.26 million hectares of land. The activity produced around 18.2 million tons of rice.

Land management involved TNI soldiers, farmer assistants, and local communities. Agus added that the program is ongoing, with the Air Force developing sugarcane plantations and the Navy managing soybean gardens.
