Aryan Gupta from Ludhiana and Panshul Bansal from Delhi jointly secured the All India Rank 1 in NEET-UG 2026 with 715 marks each after a re-examination.
The National Testing Agency declared the results on July 17. Aryan Gupta, aged 17, scored 715 out of 720 after the original May 12 exam was cancelled amid a paper leak controversy. He said he had cried a lot when the exam was scrapped but was not alone in his disappointment.
Panshul Bansal, also 17 and a student at Somerville School in Kailash Colony, had initially scored 701. He improved to 715 in the June 21 re-test. He had expected admission to a good college like VMMC even with his first score.
A total of 11.21 lakh candidates qualified. The top score exceeds the 2025 highest of 686 by 29 marks. More than 58 per cent of qualifiers are women.
