Two suspects arrested for luxury watch thefts in Mexico City

Officers from Mexico City's Public Security Secretariat arrested two alleged luxury watch thieves in the Miguel Hidalgo borough. The suspects were caught attempting an assault near Viaducto. Authorities link the detainees to previous robberies in the area.

Mexico City's Public Security Secretariat (SSC-CDMX) arrested two members of a gang specializing in high-end watch thefts on Wednesday. Pablo Vázquez Camacho, the agency's head, explained that the capture resulted from investigations in commercial areas of the Miguel Hidalgo borough, where the criminals operated.

Identified as Ángel 'N' and Gilbert Alexis 'N', the suspects were intercepted while allegedly attempting to assault an individual near Viaducto, a major roadway with heavy traffic. During the operation, officers seized a short-barreled firearm, two cell phones, cash, and a vehicle with Durango state plates.

Following their arrest, the alleged perpetrators were handed over to the Mexico City Attorney General's Office (FGJ-CDMX) for legal proceedings. Preliminary investigations indicate the detainees may be connected to a high-end watch theft in October and an attempted assault in December, both in the same district.

The SSC-CDMX highlighted its dedication to citizen complaints, using intelligence and operations to fight high-impact crimes and foster a safer city.
