U.S. Soccer Team Boosts John Denver Song Streams at World Cup

Team USA's strong start in the 2026 World Cup has increased streams of John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads." The 1970 classic saw U.S. on-demand streams rise 20 percent after a June 19 win.

The U.S. team opened Group Play with a 2-0 record and 6-1 goal differential. Crowds have embraced the song, which the team submitted to FIFA as a potential victory anthem.

Streams reached nearly 1.7 million official on-demand U.S. plays in the three days after the June 19 victory. That marked a 20 percent increase from 1.4 million streams in the same period the prior week, according to Luminate data.

The track had already surpassed one billion Spotify streams across its top versions. Team USA faces Türkiye on Thursday but has already advanced, leaving the match as a tune-up for fans and players alike.
