Viktor Hovland defeated Scottie Scheffler in a one-hole playoff on Monday morning to claim the 2026 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.
Hovland closed with a tap-in par after Scheffler missed a short birdie putt on the 18th hole. The victory marked Hovland's eighth PGA Tour title and his first of the 2026 season.
The Norwegian credited his mother Galina, who watched him win for the first time, and the large group of Norwegian fans who traveled from nearby World Cup matches. "I won a few times now over the world, but never had my mom or dad watch me win one," Hovland said.
Scheffler led for much of the final round but could not hold off Hovland's charge. He later reflected on the missed putt, saying he may have hit it firmer than intended.
Hovland earned $3.6 million as winner while Scheffler took $2.16 million as runner-up. The win came with a new Ping G440 LST driver in his bag.
