Matt Fitzpatrick captured the 2026 RBC Heritage title by defeating Scottie Scheffler in a sudden-death playoff at Harbour Town Golf Links. He sealed the victory with a precise 4-iron approach to 13 feet on the 18th hole and a subsequent birdie putt. Both players finished regulation at 18-under par.
Matt Fitzpatrick entered the final round with a three-shot lead after rounds of 65, 63 and 68. He extended it to four early with birdies on the first and third holes, reaching 19-under. Scottie Scheffler mounted a charge, birdieing holes 2, 9, 15 and 16 to pull within one at 18-under entering the 18th. Fitzpatrick bogeyed the par-4 18th after a poor chip, while Scheffler parred, forcing a playoff. Scheffler carded a 67 to Fitzpatrick's 70 in the final round. Si Woo Kim finished third at 16-under. In the playoff on the 18th, from roughly 200 yards, Fitzpatrick flighted a Ping i210 4-iron into the wind to 13 feet, later calling it 'out of this world.' Scheffler's 6-iron fell short by 35 yards, and after pitching to eight feet, Fitzpatrick drained the winning putt. The win earns Fitzpatrick $3.6 million from the $20 million purse and marks his second RBC Heritage victory and second in five weeks, following strong recent form with his Bettinardi BB1 Flow blade putter. 'Just a lot of grit,' he said afterward.
