Volodar Murzin wins freestyle friday chess event

GM Volodar Murzin claimed his first Freestyle Friday title on May 29 with a dominant 10/11 score and no losses. The Russian grandmaster finished a full point ahead of the field in the Chess.com weekly tournament for titled players.

Murzin started strongly with four straight wins and never trailed. He defeated several top contenders, including a key victory over GM Haik Martirosyan after just six moves in one game.
