GM Volodar Murzin claimed his first Freestyle Friday title on May 29 with a dominant 10/11 score and no losses. The Russian grandmaster finished a full point ahead of the field in the Chess.com weekly tournament for titled players.
Murzin started strongly with four straight wins and never trailed. He defeated several top contenders, including a key victory over GM Haik Martirosyan after just six moves in one game. His only draw came against GM Nodirbek Yakubboev in round six, but he rebounded with four more wins to close out the event.
