John Hight will leave his role as president of Wizards of the Coast on September 1 after two years. He will continue as an advisor to the company following the transition.
The announcement came via a US Securities and Exchange Commission filing on July 27. Hight joined Wizards of the Coast after serving as a general manager at Blizzard Entertainment.
Wizards of the Coast issued a statement confirming the move. It said there is no change to the strength of the business and that Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons continue to perform well.
The company also stated that its 2027 video game slate, including Exodus and Warlock, remains on track. An internal and external search for Hight's successor is underway.
This development follows a recent $56 million impairment charge by parent company Hasbro against its gaming division and the cancellation of several in-development titles.
