Wobbly Life game announces film and TV adaptations

The popular sandbox game Wobbly Life is expanding into film and television through a new partnership. UK developer Rubber Band Games has teamed up with Prime Universe Films to bring the game's world to screens. This move follows the title's strong sales and player engagement.

Rubber Band Games, an independent studio based in the UK, has revealed plans to adapt its hit open-world sandbox game Wobbly Life for film and TV. The announcement highlights the game's evolution from a solo indie project into a thriving franchise since its 2020 launch.

Partnership Details

The collaboration is with Prime Universe Films, a production company known for its work on the Hitman franchise. This includes two films featuring actors Timothy Olyphant and Rupert Friend, as well as an upcoming TV series at 20th Television, where Prime's CEO Adrian Askarieh serves as executive producer. Askarieh expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, "[Wobbly Life]'s meteoric growth shows the strength of the universe and I'm excited to work with RubberBandGames to bring it into film and television. This world has a tone, identity, and characters that lend themselves to storytelling across multiple formats."

Game's Success and Future Outlook

Originally developed by founder Tom Dunn as a one-person effort, Wobbly Life has sold more than 2.8 million units globally and attracted six million players across platforms. In 2025 alone, it logged over 60 million hours of playtime. Dunn credited the community for the game's rise, saying, "From day one the success of Wobbly Life has been driven by the community. The team and I have been blown away by the huge growth this year and we’re thrilled to see Wobbly Life take its first steps into film and TV. We expect 2026 to be even bigger."

This adaptation marks a significant step for the title, building on its established fanbase and narrative potential. Details on release dates or creative teams remain under wraps, but the partnership signals broader transmedia ambitions.
