Yankees prospect Tony Rossi extends scoreless streak after promotion

Tony Rossi has continued his dominant 2026 campaign in the New York Yankees farm system. The 26-year-old right-hander was promoted to Double-A Somerset last Friday and has not allowed a run in 17 straight appearances. His performance has placed him at No. 30 on the Yankees’ Top 30 Prospects list to start the season.

Rossi signed with the Yankees as an undrafted free agent for a $10,000 bonus after going unselected in the 2024 Draft. He overcame a circuitous college path and Tommy John surgery that caused him to miss the entire 2023 season.

Since his only rough outing of the year on April 7 with High-A Hudson Valley, Rossi has posted a 0.89 ERA over at least 20 innings. Batters are hitting .104 against him with a 26-to-3 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

His arsenal features a mid-90s fastball that can reach triple digits, a high-spin slider, and a split-change. The improved command this season has reduced his walk rate to 2.2 per nine innings.

The Yankees have a recent track record of unearthing effective relievers as undrafted free agents, with Rossi joining Harrison Cohen and Hueston Morrill on the organization’s prospect radar.
