Young badminton stars showcase skills at Kudus tournament

The Kejuaraan Klub Mitra PB Djarum 2026 in Kudus highlights the strong regeneration of Indonesian badminton. Hundreds of young athletes from various clubs compete in international formats to gain early experience. The event also emphasizes sustainable development through coaching clinics.

The Kejuaraan Klub Mitra PB Djarum 2026 took place at GOR Djarum, Jati, Kudus, Central Java, from February 9 to 14, 2026. The event featured 518 young athletes from 28 clubs, including 25 partner clubs and three invited clubs. Organized by PB Djarum and Djarum Foundation, it aims to sustain the flame of national badminton through elite development.

The competition formats were upgraded to familiarize young players with world championship atmospheres. The U-13 team event used the Thomas & Uber Cup format, while the U-15 adopted the Sudirman Cup format. Program Director of Djarum Foundation's Sports Philanthropy and PB Djarum Chairman, Yoppy Rosimin, stated, “Kejuaraan Klub Mitra merupakan upaya menjaga nyala api bulutangkis Indonesia. Klub bisa mengukur kemampuan atletnya, meningkatkan kualitas pembinaan, dan pada akhirnya melahirkan regenerasi pebulutangkis elite.”

Several alumni from partner clubs have joined the PBSI national training center, including Selsi Jovika, Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, and Richie Duta Richardo. Beyond matches, the event included a coaching clinic on endurance improvement led by PB Djarum physical coach Ari Subarkah.

A dramatic match unfolded in the U-11 boys' singles final between Zayn Abdullah Rajendra of Champion Klaten and Kentaro Javas Kaivan Tsaqib of Champion Kebumen. Zayn won 21-16, 19-21, 21-18. He said, “Saya tidak mau buang kesempatan jadi juara. Tahun lalu cuma sampai delapan besar. Senang banget kerja keras terbayar.”

In the U-15 mixed team final using the Sudirman Cup format, Champion Gading Jaya defeated Champion Magelang 3-0.
