Apple held its Worldwide Developers Conference on Monday and announced a major overhaul to its Siri assistant along with new versions of its operating systems. The company released the first developer betas for iOS 27 and other platforms immediately after the keynote.
The keynote centered on Siri AI, a conversational upgrade that draws on personal context across apps and devices. It can handle multi-step tasks such as planning events or analyzing photos and will arrive first in English as a beta later this year. iOS 27 will run on devices as old as the iPhone 11, while macOS 27 Golden Gate requires Apple silicon and drops support for Intel-based Macs. New photo tools in the Photos app include Spatial Reframing, which adjusts perspective after capture using generative AI. Apple also introduced expanded parental controls, a custom equalizer for recent AirPods models and performance improvements across its platforms. Siri AI and some Apple Intelligence features will be delayed indefinitely in the European Union and will not launch in China due to regulatory requirements. The first developer betas are available now, with public betas expected in July and final releases scheduled for this fall.
