Bob Horner, the former Atlanta Braves star who skipped the minors after being the first overall pick in the 1978 MLB Draft, has died at age 68. The Braves announced his passing on Tuesday.
Horner made his major league debut on June 16, 1978, less than two weeks after being drafted. He hit .277 with 218 home runs over 10 seasons, earning National League Rookie of the Year honors in 1978 and an All-Star selection in 1982. Injuries limited his playing time, though he hit four home runs in a single game against the Montreal Expos on July 6, 1986.
