Bonhams plans spring 2026 auctions featuring DTM cars

Bonhams has announced a series of auctions for spring 2026, including sales in Goodwood, Monaco, Miami, and Greenwich, with a focus on historic DTM racing cars and classic vehicles. The lineup highlights rare models from the 1980s and 1990s DTM series alongside notable road cars like a unique Bentley coupé. These events begin with the Goodwood Members’ Meeting on April 19 and continue through May.

Bonhams is set for a packed spring 2026 auction schedule, starting with the Goodwood Members’ Meeting sale on April 19. This event features nine announced cars, including a 1954 Allard Palm Beach estimated at £40,000-£50,000, a 1953 OSCA MT4 Barchetta at £120,000-£160,000, a 1956 Austin-Healey 100M at £60,000-£80,000, a 1925 Bentley 3 Litre Boat-Tail Tourer at £100,000-£150,000, and a 2002 Lamborghini Murciélago manual at £175,000-£225,000 with no reserve.

A standout lot is the 1936 Bentley 4¼ Litre Coupé, the only two-door coupé bodied by James Young on the Bentley Derby chassis out of 70 such commissions. Registered as ‘NV 8000’ in September 1936, it was ordered by Alan Timpson at the 1936 Earl’s Court Motor Show and originally based on a 1935 design for Prince Bira. The car passed through owners including Mr Richards of Hampshire, Rev G Calthrop of Lincolnshire, and Richard Arnison Lowe from 1965 to 2002, who oversaw a major restoration. Acquired by its current owner in April 2002, it received interior work by M&K Upholstery and maintenance from Classic Motivation, including steering overhauls, an overdrive unit, and rally use in events like the Bill Boddy Derby Bentley Rally. It carries an estimate of £50,000-£70,000.

The schedule proceeds to Monaco on April 24, where DTM cars from the 1980s and 1990s take center stage. Highlights include a 1992 BMW M3 E30 chassis WBA121307, driven by Steve Soper for the Bigazzi team to two wins and ninth in the standings, later raced by Josef Venc in 1993-1994 and part of the Florent Moulin Collection; estimated at €325,000-€425,000 and signed by team members. A 1990 AMG-Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II chassis AMG2018924, one of two ex-factory cars, was piloted by Klaus Ludwig to two poles and victories; estimated at €375,000-€550,000. The 1989 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, raced by Armin Hahne for Wolf Racing with subsequent drives by Alan Ferté to three wins after a rebuild, later competed in the European Hill Climb Championship; estimated at €275,000-€375,000. Also featured is a 1995 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti DTM chassis SE06-004 for Alessandro Nannini, achieving two podiums and 11th place; estimated at €500,000-€600,000.

Beyond racers, the Monaco sale includes a 1966 Citroën DS21 Cabriolet, the fourth built and displayed at the 1966 Salon de Paris in ‘green liquid’ finish, offered at no reserve for €150,000-€200,000. A motorcycle sale follows in Stafford, UK, on April 25-26. US auctions are slated for Miami on May 3 and Greenwich on May 31, though no entries have been announced yet.
