Boomtown-Festival in den South Downs bis 2030 genehmigt

Die Veranstaltung, die jeden August stattfindet, behält eine Kapazitätsgrenze von 75.999 Besuchern bei, zuzüglich 1.000 am Sonntag. Die Organisatoren verpflichteten sich im Rahmen der Genehmigung zu neuen Umweltmaßnahmen.

Das Festival, das jeden August Menschenmassen in den South Downs Nationalpark lockt, erhielt nach einer einstimmigen Abstimmung der Parkbehörde die Erlaubnis für weitere fünf Jahre. Die Anwohnerin Alisson Mathews, die zwei Meilen vom Gelände entfernt wohnt, beschrieb, wie sie während der Veranstaltung ständig den Bass-Beat höre, was ihre Familie durch den Schlafmangel erschöpfe. Sie kritisierte die Behörde dafür, die Anwohner im Stich gelassen zu haben, und drängte darauf, einen alternativen Veranstaltungsort außerhalb des geschützten Gebiets zu finden.
