Britische Springreiter sichern sich alle CSI5*-Siege beim Royal Windsor

Britische Reiter dominierten die ersten Tage des Royal Windsor Horse Show und gewannen an den ersten beiden Tagen jede CSI5*-Prüfung. Matt Sampson, Jack Whitaker und Ben Maher lieferten jeweils herausragende Leistungen mit neuen und erfahrenen Pferden ab. Die Ergebnisse setzen ein starkes Zeichen vor den Weltmeisterschaften in Aachen.

Matt Sampson begann die britische Erfolgsserie mit dem Sieg im Pearl Stakes auf Nouvelle Van Het Veldhof. Die 13-jährige Stute, die er seit März reitet, kam 0,33 Sekunden vor Abdullah Alsharbatly ins Ziel. Sampson legte am Samstag mit einem weiteren Sieg im Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Al Nahyan Challenge Stakes auf Latte Macchiato nach und legte im Stechen ein schnelles Tempo vor, das ungeschlagen blieb.

Britain’s Tom McEwen secured third place in the five-star dressage at the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event with a score of 25.1. Elizabeth Barratt claimed third in the Cosequin Lexington CCI4*-S class scoring 29.7. Both riders praised their horses after tests on 24 April.

A star-studded field of showjumpers has been confirmed for this year's Royal Windsor Horse Show, featuring Olympic and European champions alongside rising talents. The CSI5* classes will take place in Berkshire with riders from Britain and around the world competing for major prizes including the Rolex grand prix. The event promises one of the strongest line-ups in recent years.

British showjumper John Whitaker marked his return from a two-month injury break with victory in the CSI2* grand prix at Chard, Somerset. The 70-year-old Yorkshireman rode his 18-year-old horse Equine America Unick Du Francport to the only double clear round in the Longines rankings class. Whitaker's win came at his second competition since hernia surgery in late February.

Sadie Smith rode Times Rococo to victory in the Baileys Horse Feeds novice freestyle gold on the opening morning of the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships at Addington. Eli Lovell claimed the HorseHage Preliminary Gold title with Parchioness G, while Alice Begg topped the Petplan Medium Silver Area Festival Championship on Noraly. The event on 15 April featured strong performances from young horses and new partnerships.

Ireland's Conor Swail and his horse Theo 160 claimed victory in the CSI3* Welcome Speed class at the Thermal CSI3* event. As the second pair to compete, they set a time that no other rider could match. Swail praised the performance, saying, “All the numbers came up lovely for Theo 160!”

Complementing senior British riders' podiums in the five-star class, the young Rising Lions trio impressed in the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event's Cosequin Lexington CCI4*-S dressage: Elizabeth Barratt third on 29.7, Isabelle Cook debuting 36th on 39.3, and Finn Healy 25th on 35.8.

On the final day of the EBM Dressage by the Sea, Jayden Brown and Quincy B secured a third consecutive victory in the Shepherds Electrical CDI3* Grand Prix Special with a personal best score of 74.447%. The event showcased strong performances across various classes, including freestyles and young horse rounds. Emerging riders and consistent partnerships highlighted the competition's depth.
