Rafiki’s Planet Watch Name Quietly Dropped from Disney Websites

Following its February 2026 closure, Disney has removed all traces of the Rafiki’s Planet Watch name from Walt Disney World signage and websites, reverting to the original Conservation Station branding ahead of a Bluey-themed reopening in summer 2026.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has completed a subtle rebranding phase for its educational animal care area, previously known as Rafiki’s Planet Watch. As reported earlier, the attraction closed on February 23, 2026, for refurbishment without fanfare about the permanent name change. Now, the official Walt Disney World website and guest-facing materials exclusively use 'Conservation Station'—its original name from the park’s 1998 debut, before the 2000 Lion King-themed rebrand to draw more visitors.

This unannounced shift aligns with preparations for Bluey’s Wild World, a new family attraction opening summer 2026. The experience will include interactions with Bluey and Bingo, animal-themed games, and nature activities. The Affection Section petting zoo is being refreshed, renamed, and restocked with Australian species to match Bluey’s origins. The streamlined Conservation Station name now unifies the Wildlife Express Train ride, veterinary exhibits, and conservation displays, clearing Lion King ties for the Bluey integration.

While core educational programming on animal care persists, the updates blend Animal Kingdom’s conservation mission with playful, franchise-driven appeal for younger families.
