Disney World officials could bring back a restrictive bus rule at Disney Springs during the busy Memorial Day weekend. The policy, which limited rides to guests with hotel or dining reservations, was briefly enforced around Easter. It might return amid expected crowds starting May 23.
Memorial Day weekend, spanning Saturday, May 23 to Monday, May 25, coincides with the start of summer breaks for many schools, potentially drawing large crowds to Disney Springs. A Cast Member previously indicated that the bus rule could return during peak periods like this one. The measure was implemented near Easter when spring break and holiday visitors overwhelmed the area, but it lasted only about a week before crowds eased and the rule ended. Cast Members checked MagicBands and the My Disney Experience app at bus stops to verify reservations, effectively preventing resort hopping for non-reserved guests. Guests have suggested workarounds, such as taking buses from the parks first or heading to the Ticket and Transportation Center for monorail or Skyliner access to hotels. While not confirmed, the rule's potential return aims to manage transportation during high-traffic times at the shopping and dining complex.
