Harry Kane leads England to group win with historic goal

Harry Kane scored his eleventh World Cup goal to become England's all-time leading scorer as the team beat Panama 2–0 and secured first place in the group.

England opened the tournament with a 4–2 win over Croatia and then drew 0–0 with Ghana. In the decisive group-stage match against Panama the team won 2–0 with goals from Jude Bellingham and Kane.

Kane’s header made him England’s sole record holder with eleven World Cup goals. Gary Lineker is second with ten.

In the parallel match Croatia beat Ghana 2–1. Croatia advances as group runners-up while Ghana progresses as one of the best third-placed teams.

England will likely face Senegal or the Democratic Republic of Congo in the round of 16.
