Jesy Nelson shared a raw update on Instagram about her twin daughters Ocean and Story battling SMA Type 1 during the UK heatwave. The former Little Mix star broke down describing the daily challenges of their medical devices.
Nelson posted a video on her Stories showing the girls in spinal jackets and splints. She admitted crying all day and said the heat makes everything worse.
"Imagine having to wear a spinal jacket and splints in this heat," she wrote. "I cannot even begin to tell you how much this breaks my heart into a million pieces." She stressed the devices only prevent further deterioration, not fix the condition.
The 2026 documentary Jesy Nelson: Life Changing captured her reaction to the diagnosis last year. Nelson urged wider use of heel prick tests at birth to catch SMA early and spare future families the same pain.
