A Kentucky man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from a 2023 crash that killed a 10-year-old boy.
Tymetrius Walter, 26, received the sentence this week in Oldham County after admitting guilt to vehicular homicide while under the influence, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, and assault.
The crash occurred on September 16, 2023, when Walter fled a traffic stop on Interstate 71. Police said his stolen vehicle was traveling at high speed when he exited and struck a white GMC SUV driven by the boy's grandmother.
The victim, Jake Luxemburger, died at the scene. His grandmother suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Walter was arrested immediately after the incident.
Jake was set to turn 11 the following week. His family described him as an active child who enjoyed school, baseball, and time with friends.
