A 28-year-old Las Vegas man received a sentence of 16 to 40 years in prison for a September 2025 crash caused by driving under the influence. The incident injured a pregnant woman and her young son, resulting in the death of the unborn child.
Maximiliano Chavez pleaded guilty in February to two counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and one count of reckless driving. He had prior DUI arrests in 2017 and 2021. The sentencing hearing took place last Thursday in Clark County court, where he admitted to being drunk and under the influence of THC at the time of the crash.
