A 24-year-old man in upstate New York admitted his role in the killing of his girlfriend's grandfather last year. Drew White entered the pleas in Greene County Court on Wednesday.
White pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, second-degree conspiracy, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse. The charges stem from the October 2025 death of 69-year-old Roger Pitt Sr. in Cairo.
Prosecutors said White and Pitt's son plotted the killing amid disputes over bills and objections to White living in the home. Pitt was killed with a box-cutter-type blade and buried in a shallow grave on the property.
White also admitted helping to destroy evidence, including the victim's identification documents and vehicle. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 8 under a plea agreement that calls for 19 years to life in prison.
Two other family members face related charges and have pleaded not guilty. Their trials remain pending.
