MLB marks sixth annual Lou Gehrig Day on June 2

Major League Baseball and all 30 clubs are observing the sixth annual Lou Gehrig Day on June 2. The date honors Lou Gehrig's start as the Yankees' first baseman in 1925 and marks the day he died from ALS complications in 1941.

Players, managers and coaches across the league are wearing custom number 4 decals and red 4-ALS wristbands. Special lineup cards and Rawlings base jewels are in use at all games. MLB launched a charitable auction on June 1 at MLB.com to benefit the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass General.
