Mlb sees strong may starts for ben brown and luis arraez

Ben Brown has taken over a rotation spot for the Chicago Cubs and delivered in his first start. Luis Arraez has shown major defensive gains at second base for the San Francisco Giants. Trevor Megill has adjusted his approach to regain effectiveness for the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Cubs turned to Ben Brown after losing starters Cade Horton, Matthew Boyd and Justin Steele to injuries. Brown held the Texas Rangers hitless over four innings in his first start since last July, striking out three and walking one. He added a sinker this offseason after consulting with Clay Holmes and is now mixing it with his curveball against right-handed hitters. Brown told MLB.com that working with Holmes helped him both mentally and physically this spring.

Manager Joe Espada said no timetable for Brown's return is available until further diagnosis.
