Palumbo Superyachts acquires new shipbuilding facility in Ortona

Palumbo Superyachts has secured a concession for a waterfront area in the Port of Ortona, Italy, to bolster its yacht construction capabilities. The expansion supports its brands including ISA Yachts, Columbus Yachts, Extra Yachts, and Mondomarine amid a €1 billion order backlog. The company currently has 24 superyacht projects underway.

Palumbo Superyachts announced the acquisition of a 13,048.98 square meter waterfront concession in the Port of Ortona on Italy's Adriatic coast. This move aims to strengthen the company's presence in yacht construction, focusing on vessels ranging from 30 to 100 meters in length.

The new facility will support shipbuilding activities for Palumbo's key brands: ISA Yachts, Columbus Yachts, Extra Yachts, and Mondomarine. It features direct sea access and a dedicated slipway, enhancing the division's production and logistics capacity during a phase of significant growth.

According to the company, Palumbo Superyachts maintains an order backlog exceeding €1 billion, with 24 superyacht projects in progress. These include 14 projects for ISA Yachts and four for Columbus Yachts.

Giuseppe Palumbo, sole director of Palumbo Superyachts, stated: “Ortona represents a strategic step in Palumbo Superyachts’ growth path. We have chosen a territory whose DNA is rooted in metal shipbuilding and which possesses highly valuable technical expertise. Our objective is to further strengthen our production capacity by investing in infrastructure, people, and innovation. We look to the future with ambition, confident that this new development will significantly contribute to the competitiveness of Italian yachting in global markets.”

Ortona's suitability for shipbuilding stems from its structured commercial port, established expertise in metal carpentry, and a specialized supply chain for steel processing. The acquisition aligns with the company's ambitions to expand in the new-build sector.
