Polymarket applies for U.S. margin trading license

Polymarket's U.S. affiliate has filed to offer margin trading to American users, a move that would allow larger positions with reduced capital if approved by regulators.

Coming Home GBA LLC, Polymarket's U.S. affiliate, submitted an application for a futures commission merchant license with the National Futures Association. The filing represents the next step in the prediction market platform's effort to reenter the U.S. market after a four-year absence.

The company will also need approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission to amend its rulebook. The changes would permit trading without fully collateralized positions, similar to authorization already granted to rival Kalshi in March.

Prediction market volumes reached $51 billion last year and are projected to hit $240 billion in 2026. Polymarket previously settled charges with the CFTC for offering unregistered derivatives and agreed to stop serving U.S. customers.
