Rangers rally in ninth to split series with A's

The Texas Rangers overcame windy conditions and a late deficit to beat the Oakland Athletics 9-6 on Thursday at Sutter Health Park, securing a series split. Josh Jung's two-run homer in the seventh gave Texas a temporary lead, but the A's surged ahead in the eighth on wind-aided hits. The Rangers responded with four runs in the top of the ninth.

Gusting winds of 18 mph shaped the game in West Sacramento. In the top of the seventh, Josh Jung hit a wind-assisted two-run home run, putting the Rangers up 5-3. Jung finished a triple shy of the cycle and is slashing .375/.444/.550 this April after a slow start in Philadelphia. Manager Skip Schumaker praised his resurgence: “He's using the whole field, he has been playing good defense. This is who I remember Josh being. It's nice to have him in the middle of the order. It creates length.”
