Tyler Stephenson hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning off Rodríguez to give the Reds the lead. Ben Rice hit a solo home run for the Yankees in the third inning.
Burns allowed five hits and three walks while improving to 9-1 with a 2.00 ERA. Rodríguez was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after the game.
The Yankees stranded multiple runners and went hitless in their past 24 at-bats with runners in scoring position dating to Friday. Cincinnati took two of three games from New York.
