Renegade Game Studios Shifts RPGs to Dungeons & Dragons Rules

Renegade Game Studios announced second editions of its Transformers, G.I. Joe and Power Rangers roleplaying games during its Renegade Con livestream. The new versions will use rules based on Dungeons & Dragons 5.5E instead of the Essence20 system.

The publisher confirmed the change during its all-day video stream on June 15. The second-edition core rulebooks will include character options, equipment, enemies and settings drawn from each franchise.

A free Essence20-to-5.5E conversion guide is planned to help existing players transition. The first crowdfunding campaigns will cover the G.I. Joe and Transformers editions, with the Power Rangers version scheduled to follow later. Further details on launch dates are expected in the coming months.

Renegade also revealed new content for its Heroscape game. Remastered versions of classic units such as Zetacron and the Knights of Weston will return with updated sculpts. New expansions include the Students of Kalari Payatt, Twilight Clan Riders and a Krampus figure with a capture mechanic.

A promotional figure named Samuel Brown will be available through organised play events this autumn.
