Ruthie Henshall is opening up about her past with Prince Edward in a new memoir. The actress dated the Duke of Edinburgh from 1988 to 1993.
Ruthie Henshall met Prince Edward while performing in Cats. She was 21 and he was 23 at the time.
In her memoir The Showgirl and the Prince, Henshall recalls their low-key romance. She told The Sunday Times magazine they had "a lot of very hot sex" and described Edward as gentle and loving.
Henshall said Edward helped her feel safe after childhood abuse. He later told her he could not subject her to royal scrutiny.
The pair met recently to discuss the book. Henshall said Edward has no concerns and she is happy for him and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
