Ryan O'Hearn drove in 10 runs with three home runs to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 12-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday. The performance ended a nine-game losing streak in starts by Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes.
O'Hearn hit a grand slam in the first inning, a three-run homer in the third and another three-run home run in the sixth. He finished 4 for 5 and set a Pirates club record for runs batted in during a single game.
Skenes earned the win with six innings pitched, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out four. The outing broke a stretch in which the Pirates had lost all nine of his previous starts since a May 12 victory over the Rockies.
The 10 RBI total ranks among the highest single-game marks in MLB history. O'Hearn's output also marked the 25th three-homer game in Pirates franchise history.
