Sareee not cleared for AEW Dynamite Owen Hart Cup match

AEW President Tony Khan announced that Sareee is not cleared to compete in her scheduled quarterfinal match against Skye Blue in the 2026 Women's Owen Hart Foundation Cup tournament on AEW Dynamite: Summer Blockbuster.

Khan made the announcement via an X live stream ahead of the show. He noted that initial medical clearances from Sareee's personal doctor and doctors in Japan had been received, but AEW doctors conducted additional exams and decided not to clear her. We had really been excited, because the doctors of Sareee had said she's going to be cleared, from her own personal doctor and the doctors in Japan, we got all the clearances and we thought we were ready to go, Khan said. But, we do very thorough medical exams here in AEW. The AEW doctors today say they do not feel comfortable clearing Sareee. Sareee addressed the situation through a translator, expressing disappointment and apologizing for being unable to compete. She said she hopes for another opportunity to return to AEW. Khan assured her that she remains welcome. Khan named Maya World as Sareee's replacement in the tournament. Maya World, who recently announced the death of her brother, declined time off and chose to compete.
