UFC champ Sean Strickland has flipped the script with a public mea culpa to Dustin Poirier after questioning the retired fighter's depression claims post-arrest.
Strickland posted on social media that he spoke directly with Poirier. "I spoke to Dustin and he is legitimately messed up by his actions," he wrote. "I thought he was just doing PR clean up tbh.. I guess not everyone is a POS like me lol."
He added a clear retraction: "So yeah I repent and I am sorry Dustin." The about-face follows Poirier's June 21 Atlanta airport arrest and a podcast where he tied his actions to childhood trauma and depression bouts.
Strickland had previously dismissed the explanation on X, calling male depression nonexistent for the rich and successful. Poirier has not yet responded to the apology.
