Der 56-jährige Perkussionist teilte diese Nachricht im Podcast „Tetragrammaton“ von Rick Rubin und beschrieb Episoden, in denen er das Gefühl habe, zu sterben.

Crahan erklärte, dass er die Erkrankung nach seiner letzten Tournee entdeckte, als das medizinische Personal Schwierigkeiten hatte, ein EKG zu erstellen, und zunächst einen Herzinfarkt vermutete. Er merkte an, dass seine Herzfrequenz tagsüber trotz seines Übergewichts dank seiner starken mentalen Kontrolle niedrig bei 43 Schlägen pro Minute bleibe, sie jedoch plötzlich abfallen könne und ihn dann extrem unwohl fühlen lasse. Der Eingriff, der das elektrische System des Herzens betrifft, wird als unkompliziert beschrieben, mit Entlassung am selben Tag und ohne die Notwendigkeit von offenen Operationen oder eines Herzschrittmachers, wie zunächst befürchtet.
